Paris noise pollution event
On 29 May, Car Free Megacities partner Paris Sans Voiture took part in a reclaim the streets event to showcase noise pollution with an interactive sound caravan - called the Petit Observatoire de la Pollution Sonore (Small Observatory of Noise Pollution) - and a Kidicalmass. The Kidicalmass set off from the Climate Academie in the centre of Paris and headed to Paris quais de la Loire for the ‘Grande Rue aux Enfants’ event hosted by kids cafe, Cafézoîde.

Our partner in Paris, Cathy Lamri of Paris Sans Voiture explained:
'We participated in the ‘Grande Rue aux Enfants’ event, organised by Cafézoïde on Sunday 29th May on the quai de la Loire in (19th arrondissement). As part of this event, roads and quays next to the canal were closed to traffic, and handed to local residents and children to enjoy a range of activities and entertainment.
'We invited the public to enter into our sound booth and travel through time, as we trace the evolution of human activities and their impact on the life of our capital and its inhabitants.
'The public came en masse to listen to the noises of Paris through the ages and to testify of their personal experience of the noise pollution in the city. People were lining up to enter the capsule to share their desires and ideas for the Paris of tomorrow.
‘We were also delighted to be joined by the elected representative for associative life and Councillor of the Metropole du Grand Paris. The Kidicalmass also went very well and we were happy to welcome Simone Kraus (initiator of the kidicalmass) who came especially from Cologne to meet us and participate in the Parisian parade with her two children.
Paris Sans Voiture partnered with the following organisations for this event:
Passerelle de Mémoire, Cafezoïde, Solar Sound System, Bruitparif
