Doug Gordon
Doug is an active travel and safe streets advocate based in Brooklyn, New York. Known online as @BrooklynSpoke, he’s also a co-host of The War on Cars podcast, which examines the ways in which cars have affected culture, politics, and the environment. Doug is quoted frequently in the media on New York’s evolution as a bicycling city and he has a special interest in how the press covers issues related to cyclist- and pedestrian-friendly streets. He has written on the subject for The New Republic, The New York Daily News and Streetsblog.
As a TV producer and writer who has worked on shows for PBS, ABC, History, Travel Channel, Discovery, National Geographic Channel and more, Doug knows how to tell a good story and has developed strategies for advocates working to transform their cities into places for people, not cars. He has presented at various conferences and seminars in the US including the National Bike Summit, Vision Zero Cities, CityWorks (X)Po, and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals. Called “a master of images that subvert anti-bike stereotypes” by PeopleForBikes, Doug advises businesses and organizations on the subject of cycling, the livable cities revolution, and how to deal with bikelash.
